The Albert Schweitzer Institute for the Humanities and the Open Society Institute look forward to your participation in the 1999 Schweitzer Regional Conference on Nursing.

I. CONFERENCE GOALS

1.Participants will have an opportunity to discuss emerging concepts of Primary Health Care Nursing in Central/ Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

2. Participants will discuss specific applications of Primary Health Care Nursing to the health needs of vulnerable populations.

3. Participants will have an opportunity to network with nurses and other health care workers in the field of Primary Health Care.

4. Participants will be encouraged to interact with colleagues from neighboring countries to explore possible collaborations.

5. Participants will explore the ethical and human rights aspects of primary health care for vulnerable populations

III. FACULTY

There will be an international faculty from the fields of primary health care, nursing, and nursing education.

IV. CONFERENCE LOCATION AND ACCOMMODATIONS

The conference will be held at the Central European University Residence and Conference Center in Budapest, Hungary from October 11-15.

V. CONFERENCE ELIGIBILITY

Nurses, midwives, doctors, nurse educators, and others interested in the field of nursing who are living in Eastern and Central Europe and Central Asia are eligible to attend. Conference participants will be selected by each country's Open Society Institute (Soros) office. If you are interested in participating in the conference, please contact your country's Open Society Institute (Soros) office for an application. If you are selected to attend the conference, The Open Society (Soros) Institute will pay for your conference accommodations and transportation.
